What do Harry Dresden and Orcus Prince of Undeath have in common?

I own them both! That’s right after spending way to much money this month I now own both the Orcus Prince of Undeath gargantuan figure and the Dresden Files RPG. I have to say I’m happy with both.

Being so new to the RPG scene I really have little experience with other games so the Dresden Files is my first foray into a larger gaming community. I have talked to a few of my Monday night players about trying out a new game and they seemed really open to the idea. I’m excited to get the chance to branch out and try my hand at other games. I think playing something a bit more modern will help me keep fresh, and might be a really nice change of pace.

I really like the group story aspect of the game. Much of the world building is done by the whole party in the first session. This means that the players are all privy to what’s been going on in their world and are aware of some of the movers and shakers. This makes a ton of sense to me, rather than having all of the players “fresh off the boat” and knowing little about the world around them, they all have some insight into hot spots and key players. You better believe that some of the world building aspects of the game will make it into my Dungeons and Dragons game.

Now this big red bastard is all mine! Normally I wouldn’t go blowing $75.00 on something like this but my girlfriend chipped in and brought the price tag down to something I would call reasonable. Even if my players only fight him once I would still call this a great buy. He will sit atop my desk and forever scourge those who would intrude upon my geek corner of the apartment.

For an idea of scale here he is next to my Avok mini I painted a few months ago. Avok looks like a freaken gnome child next to Orcus.

Just to keep driving home the scale of this monster with tree trunk arms I put him next to a ballor and my blue dragon.

Isn’t that cute? It looks like the Balor is trying to look tough like his big cousin Orcus.

Yeah, these guys take up some serious desk space, but man does my desk look all the better for it. What an epic fight this could make eh?

So I’ll leave you with one more image as a kind of spoiler for my next giveaway/contest. Mind you this next one will have some purchase necessary rules attached to it.

Dun dun duuuuuuunnnnnn.

T.
