I decided to try my hand at this un-boxing stuff. I looks like the most recent craze and all the kids are into them so I figured why not try, I’m cool, I’m hip, I’m with it a ducka ducka. Really though it looks like Wizards of the Coast is moving towards more box sets you might see more and more here on the site.
For now I present to you the un-boxing of the Master Tile Set: Dungeons for 4th edition Dungeons and Dragons:
Here is the breakdown:
- It is marked at $19.95
- It comes with 10 sheets of punch out tiles.
- The box is made of card stock and can be used as 2 levels of elevated tiles.
- The Box is designed to store the punched out tiles, no more plastic bags.
Those are the basics, I’m not really a details person so I’m not getting into weights and exact # of tiles and what not. I don’t have a rating system with numbers or stars, I think they are a bit arbitrary. My final on this set is that it is a must have for DMs. At $20 it’s a solid buy. My biggest problem with previous dungeon tile sets is the need to buy at least two sets before you could really use them. This box set has taken care of that and more.
The music in the video was provided by NurseHella. You can hear her spit mad rhymes over at Pure Volume.

Great video – thanks for posting. Although I think all these tiles are reprints, the set looks very good value.
When’s the Rules Compendium review coming?

What is the release date for this item?

It should be out on September 21st. I’m guessing that if your local store is a “preferred” retailer it will be out a week or so sooner.

Thanks for the unboxing vid. I’m trying to decide where to spend my sparse birthday cash and this was on the list, but I didn’t want to purchase them without at least knowing what they contained. Haven’t used tiles much in the past, but I think I’m going to give them a shot now.
Thanks again!

Even if these are reprints, it looks like most of these are from Fane of the Forgotten Gods or Hall of the Giant Kings, which are hard to get these days, Giant Kings especially. I think last time i looked, one copy of that set was going for close to $30.
What’s equally important is that it looks like even the reprinted tiles have something different on the obverse than was on the original, so even if you have a set of the original tiles you have a reason to pick up the new set.

I love all the tiles that are coming out these days; I regret eternally to getting rid of my Advanced Heroquest box set nearly two decades ago. These tiles couple with the GameMastery ones from Paizo are excellent.

at first i was all “ugh, i hate it when people play music over their video” then i was like “what is this magical song playing?”

Yeah, I went back and forth on music or no music. Once you have watched this video with that song in it you can’t watch it with out.
It’s NurseHella Geekend Freak out. There is a link at the bottom of the post to her stuff on Pure Volume. You can listen to it for free.
